Dinos Café, a popular old-fashion American diner located in Bloomingdale, Illinois replaced their outdated 250 watt HID lights on their rooftop with weather resistant, vibrant, state-of-the-art color changing 30w Serenity LED floodlights. These LED floodlights are remote-controlled with 32 different color options and are part of the Serenity LED Rainbow Series. Serenity LED, a U.S. based innovative lighting company, manufactured these LED Floodlights and used a US Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business to install the lights.

Philips Lighting, a global leader in lighting, announced that VfL Wolfsburg is the first German soccer club to adopt connected LED pitch lighting from Philips Lighting for its stadium, the Volkswagen Arena, in Wolfsburg, Germany. As well as providing superior lighting quality, the pitch lighting and moving spotlights can synch with the stadium’s video screens and perimeter message displays, creating spectacular light effects that take stadium entertainment to a new level.

DSA Phototech announced the completion of a large format LED light box installation for a new visitor exhibit at Seattle's iconic Space Needle. This innovative project involved the design and creation of 15 custom light boxes. To complete the project, DSA Phototech worked closely with two exhibit firms. Storyline Studio handled the exhibit concept and design, and Group Delphi managed the overall project and was responsible for fabrication and installation.

The Lighting Research Center (LRC) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has recently released a free, open-access circadian stimulus (CS) calculator to help lighting professionals select light sources and light levels that will increase the potential for circadian-effective light exposure in architectural spaces, utilizing the CS metric. Developed by LRC researchers, the CS metric is a new way to quantify light’s impact on acute melatonin suppression, a marker of circadian system activation.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, this evening announced that a team led by the internationally acclaimed American light artist Leo Villareal and renowned British architects and urban planners, Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands, have won the Illuminated River International Design Competition.

Lighting manufacturer Osram, which celebrates its 110-year brand anniversary this year, is joined by another famous institution: the Westin Excelsior Hotel in Rome was opened in 1906 and is therefore celebrating its 110 years anniversary. To mark the occasion, Claypaky – a company of the Osram group – illuminated the venerable hotel, whose past guests have already included celebrities like Pablo Picasso, Elizabeth Taylor and the Rolling Stones, in a particularly spectacular fashion from November 5 to 20. Following the video projection shown at the Patent Office in Berlin during the Festival of Light in October, this was the second lighting installation being presented by Osram for its brand anniversary. 

To highlight the impressive styling of the new 2017 IS, Lexus today unveiled a custom vehicle wrapped in 41,999 programmable LEDs that turn the car into a screen capable of broadcasting dynamic graphics and videos. The car, which is designed to send a bold signal, is featured in UK chart-topping artist Dua Lipa’s new music video for her hit song “Be the One.” The first-of-its-kind collaboration pairs Dua Lipa’s powerful vocals with an ethereal storyline, featuring the vehicle as a character and visual anchor in a story that also casts actor Ansel Elgort (“Divergent”; “The Fault in Our Stars”) as Dua's former love.

The Town of Hempstead, N.Y., the largest township in the country, is making the switch to LED technology with the conversion of more than 50,000 high-pressure sodium fixtures to LED street lights from Cree. The installation is already underway with future phases planned to bring LED lighting to the town’s municipal buildings, parks and marinas. The street light project delivers an anticipated two and a half-year payback with nearly $3 million in annual energy savings and US $57 million in total lifetime savings.

The new Scriptus LED luminaire from Osram already underscores its aspirations upon its launch at the Pinakothek der Moderne. The indoor luminaire was selected for the "House of Wonders" design exhibition by Werner Aisslinger currently to be seen in the Pinakothek der Moderne art and design museum in Munich, Germany. Developed in the late 1980’s, Marina Del Rey is an area with over 3,000 residents located on the west end of Toronto’s waterfront. By 2013, what had once been a central meeting place within the housing development that linked Marina Del Rey residents to the City of Toronto’s many walking and cycling paths, had fallen into disrepair.

Osram Lighting Solutions was distinguished with the Global SSL Showcase Top 100 Award by the International Solid State Lighting Alliance (ISA) for its spectacular LED solution in the "Wuhan – Two Rivers and Four Banks" project. The world's largest synchronized LED light show extends across 320 buildings, has a length of 20 km, and covers the banks of the two rivers Jangtse and Han that flow through the city. Osram also received the coveted award last year for its unique lighting solution in the Sistine Chapel.

The Necklace of Lights is a string of more than 4,000 lights encircling the 4.82 kilometers (3.4-mile) Lake Merritt waterfront in Oakland, California. The last major re-lamping of the 90-year-old landmark took place in 2006, when 11-watt incandescent bulbs were replaced with 3-watt cold cathode compact fluorescent bulbs. As the cold cathode bulbs aged, replacements became increasingly expensive and hard to find. The City of Oakland needed a solution that would deliver high-quality illumination, energy savings and longevity. Working with local MaxLite distributor San Leandro Electric Supply, the city recently replaced the 4,500 cold cathode bulbs with MaxLite 2.5-watt LED Marquee Lamps.

Perfectly lighting a renowned modern and contemporary art museum, Soraa’s LED lamps now illuminate the Nicolas Sursock Museum in Beirut, Lebanon. Built in 1912 by aristocrat Nicolas Ibrahim Sursock, the villa was given to the city of Beirut as an art museum upon his death. The city of Aalborg, Denmark was awarded the first prize of the 14th annual City.People.Light award for its innovative “House of Music Area” urban regeneration project. ÅF lighting, the company that designed and executed the project, was also awarded during the ceremony on 4th of November 2016 in Seoul, South Korea.
