Changzhou China to Build National Solid State Lighting Industrial Park

The establishment of an LED industrial park in Changzhou, China consists of upstream components (epi wafer, chip), midstream (packaging), downstream LED lighting fixtures, LCD display LED backlight applications, solar-powered LED lighting, and high-power LEDs. The industrial park is an assembly of over 40 LED application makers.

Changzhou’s Zouqu Lamp City, the largest market in China, is expected to boost the momentum of Changzhou’s solid state lighting development. The park’s development schedule is drafted in three stages:

2010 2015 2020
- operating scale of about $1,5 billion in related industry,
- 3~5 leading downstream enterprises,
- 3 leading midstream packaging providers
- operating scale of $3 billion in related industry
- 2~3 leading upstream epi wafer maker
- operating scale of $6 billion in related industry
- recognized as a core cluster of global solid state lighting industry
Meanwhile, Changzhou LED industry operates under adverse conditions such as the lack of independent intellectual property rights, leading enterprises, scientific and technological innovation capability and core competencies. The stable long-term development remains a challenge for the Changzhou Solid State Lighting Industrial Park.
