TILS Wraps up Glowing Results!

The flow of people and orders just kept coming during this four-day exhibition that turned on prospects across the lighting industry of Taiwan. TILS (also called the Taiwan Int’l Lighting Show) at TWTC Hall one hosted 266 exhibitors who used 634 booths who connected with 1,058 foreign visitors and more than 17,000 domestic visitors from March 18 to 21.
 
Unanimous praise for 4 days of great results
This second cycle of TILS expanded in both scale and visitor count by more than 50%. That glowing record well positions it for next year event when organizers have vowed to once again broaden its scope and size.

One executive, Chen Qi-Zhang, General Manager of LVD Int’l Light & Energy CORP., said “It’s comforting to see that Taiwan has its own professional lighting exhibition to provide an ideal platform for product promotion. And thanks to this platform, local companies can exchange industry news. It’s excellent!””

Meanwhile, Li Yi-Jun, Sales Coordinator for EPISTAR commented, “This is our first time in TILS. We’ve had excellent results! A lot of inquiries and successful promotions of company products. We will continue to show support next year!”

Zhen, Deputy Manager for Ledtech Electronics Corp. said, “We've had great deal of inquires and are confident of the ensuing orders. Foreign professionals make up 30% of all visitors which is very helpful for our company promotion overseas.”

Lin, sales coordinator of Buckingham, said, “Many new products were showcased in this year’s show which makes it even more worth seeing. Taiwan’s lighting has stepped towards high-quality specifications; the TILS can be seen as a miniature of Taiwan’s thriving lighting industry.”

Li Jia-Mao, President for Taiwan Gigantic Light Electric Co. Ltd., stated, “This is our first time in TILS; with our booth design integrated with Taiwan’s bamboo weaving culture, it really set us apart from other exhibitors. Also with this lighting show, our company can show its caliber and present Taiwan’s lighting capability to more people!”


Int’l Forums & Seminars offer update briefings on latest trends
To brief industry pros on the last tends in technology and market, TAITRA and the Industrial Technology Research Institute, invited senior executives from Austria’s Tridonic, Hong Kong ASTRI, Japanese Nichia Corp, NVC Lighting Technology Corp., Formosa Epitaxy Incorporation, Genesis Photonics Inc. to lead international forums at Exhibition Hall 1.

LEDMA secretary general Dr. Lin Jian-Xian and TLFEA chairman David Chang were forum presenters for LED Process Equipment and Technology Development and LED Lighting Industry Development across the Strait respectively, conducting focused discussions with several overseas specialists. More 300 participants were present to share industry news and market updates. 

Formosa Epitaxy’s Dr. Yu-Mei Jian pointed out in her speech, Challenges for the Greater China LED Market, that energy-saving LED lighting is an ideal starting point to take on the challenges of climate change. While China is the global LED development center, albeit still relying on certain imported key equipments and components, China has the edge of possessing a basic but complete industry chain. And there’s a win-win situation waiting once China maps out her own business model and combines it with Taiwan’s technology and patents integration, stated Jian.   

Meanwhile the LED Advanced Equipment and Module Application seminar held on March 19 to help domestic companies realize the strength of Taiwan’s lighting industry and its Blue Ocean business potential. That session was loaded with exchange and sparked several agency and cooperative deals. 

Speakers at the seminar included Underwriters Laboratories’ Matthew Salle, BJB Enterprises’ Hans-Jörg Hagemann, ITRI Green Energy and Environment Research Laboratory’s Li Li-Ling, and ITRI Industrial Economics & Knowledge Center’s Lin Zhi-Xun.

Discussions explored such issues as the latest Energy Star Requirement by US Environmental Protection Agency, the Latest Development & Trends of LED Lighting Connectors, Stipulations for LED Lighting Products, and the current status of the LED market and its future. Each talk attracted more than 350 participants who were eagerly grasped the latest trade insiders.     

Procurement Meetings spur orders to new time high
On the second day of the show the special overseas buyer’s procurement meetings were attended by 35 high value buyers and 75 exhibitors who took part in 195 one-on-one procurement meetings that generated a projected US$54.68 million in business.
 
Mr. Ir. Rudi Wahyudi, MM, Chairman from Indonesia-based PT.Petromat Int’l, stated, “Through this meeting, we now have an eye on a few Taiwan firms and are ready to place orders.” Bulgarian MAMS Trading’s Manager, Mr. Zornitsa Dancheva said, “With this show we have located the most suitable LED lighting supplier. It was very helpful.” Mexican Construlita’s Export Sales manager, Mr. Pedro Ruiz Velasco T. stated, “With the procurement meeting we have found the products we want to purchase and are ready to place orders.” And Germany-based Josef Barthelme GmbH & Co. KG’s Technology Department manager, Mr. Stefan Eistetter, and Polish AB PL Digital World’s Mr. Jacek Brzezinski both praised the procurement meetings for being efficient and helpful in locating products and producers. ”
