GT Advanced Technologies Successfully Hosted China LED Media Event on 21, February

GT Advanced Technologies Inc., a leading global provider of polysilicon production technology, and sapphire and silicon crystalline growth systems and materials for the solar, LED and other specialty markets, has successfully hosted China LED media event at Shangri-La Hotel, Guangzhou on 21, February, 2012.

During the event, Paul Beaulieu, the vice president of sapphire materials group, has given a presentation about the overview of GT’s Material Characterization Project, the Impact of Sapphire Quality on LED Wafering, and additional material characterization projects.

According to Paul Beaulieu, GT Advanced Technologies has maintained a close, cooperative relationship with Chinese customers, and the company is dedicated to support its customers to tap into LED industry in Chinese market. With its high quality and advanced technology on the development of sapphire crystal growth furnaces (ASF™), it has won good reputation in the industry.

Currently, GT is working closely with its ASF™ customers to support the build out of their sapphire facilities. For example, recently, the company has shipped ASF™ units to 7 of our 8 ASF customers and scheduled to ship ASF units to its final customer by the end of the 4th fiscal quarter (March 2012). One of its Chinese customers, Shangcheng completed construction of its sapphire facility and started volume production. HTOT signed off on several furnaces in their facility. Its Korea customer OCI celebrated the opening of their new sapphire production facility on 20, February. What’s more, Silian, a longtime customer, placed order for 6” cores for LED industry.

Paul Beaulieu believed that LED industry has a promising future in Chinese market. GT Advanced Technologies is trying its best to improve the technology, targeting to assist Chinese customers to improve their output. And the company has promised to utilize the same technology which has been sold commercially to GT’s ASF equipment customers in China, and it schedules to quite the LED market when its customers are capable of fully mastering and widely utilizing the technology brought from GT, to give more opportunity for Chinese customers to develop themselves. In the meanwhile, GT will still focus on developing its core technology and supplying high quality product for customers all over the world.
