Test Trial Approved for Daktronics Courtside LED Scorer’s Tables in NBA Facilities

Daktronics Inc of Brookings, S.D., announced that the National Basketball Association (NBA) has approved a test trial of Daktronics courtside light emitting diode (LED) scorer’s tables.

Until recently the NBA had approved digital light processing (DLP®), but not LED, technology courtside.

Daktronics engineers worked with the NBA to modify the current line of scorer’s tables to ensure player safety, the number one concern for the NBA. The new scorer’s tables incorporate the original ST-2011 scorer’s table design, but the polycarbonate face over the modules no longer exists and gas-loaded springs have been added behind each table face. Additional padding was added to the bottom front of the tables as well.

“The innovative feature of utilizing gas-loaded springs allows for the entire face of the display to give when a force hits it,” said Tom Kreutner, Daktronics Large Sports Venues project manager. “This feature was paramount to the product design being approved by the NBA.”

Daktronics has partnered with the Orlando Magic to showcase the new approved tables in Amway Arena this upcoming season.
