Lemnis Lighting forges strong partnership with Zumtobel Group in technology and product development

Lemnis Lighting B.V. (“Lemnis Lighting”) today announces it has partnered with the Zumtobel Group, a leader in professional lighting solutions, to jointly develop a full-line portfolio of technologically advanced and high quality LED-based lamps for residential and professional use.

The goal of the joint development effort of Lemnis Lighting and the Zumtobel Group is to create a technologically leading product portfolio of retrofit LED lighting products (which are designed to replace not only conventional light bulbs but also halogen spots) with a fast time to market in order to jointly drive the dynamic development of the market for high quality and affordable energy-saving LED lamps.

Lemnis Lighting, which specialises in energy efficient, LED-based lighting solutions and markets various LED retrofit lamps under its renowned Pharox brand name, will be able to quickly leverage its existing product portfolio and leading heat management solution recently developed with development partner Advanced Thermal Solutions with the development capabilities in the essential LED and electronic components that the various Zumtobel Group companies possess.

As part of the agreement, the Zumtobel Group (through its subsidiary LEDON Lamp) will be able to enter the retrofit LED lighting market in Europe, generating economies of scale for the jointly developed portfolio and enabling both companies to provide its customers with market-leading, technologically advanced and attractively priced products for various uses around the house and in their business. The joint portfolio consists of high quality LED lamps which emit a pleasant colour of light and are based on technology developed by Lemnis Lighting and Zumtobel Group companies together.

In addition, the agreement further cements and enhances the long-lasting supply relationship between the two groups that has existed since the beginning of 2008 by designating Zumtobel Group companies as a preferred supplier for Lemnis Lighting.

Lemnis Lighting CEO Remko Gaastra highlighted the importance: “Lemnis Lighting is very pleased to announce the development partnership with the Zumtobel Group as a key driver for its rapidly increasing product portfolio. It is a further step in our strategy to form strong partnerships with key players in the industry to enable fast technology and product development in order to provide our customers with high quality LED lamps as a genuine alternative to incandescents and CFLs. This partnership further enhances Lemnis Lighting’s leading position in LED lamps and we are proud that our long-lasting relationship with the Zumtobel Group is taking a further step forward.”

Zumtobel Group CEO Andreas Ludwig expressed his delight at the agreement: “LEDON and Lemnis are the perfect partners to drive the breakthrough of the LED lamp. Our joint strategic goal is to build up a significant volume of business in the lamp market.”
