Dow Corning Sues Chinese Manufacturer over LED Organosilicone Glue Patent Infringement

Dow Corning’s Chinese subsidy has recently filed an organosilicone patent infringement case in Shanghai First Intermediate People's Court against Beijing KMT Technology, according to a Chinese language OFweek report. In the complaint, Beijing KMT Technology was accused of selling Dow Corning’s patented organosilicone products as its own.

Dow Corning developed and patented the High Refractive Index (HRI) phenyl group organosilicone more than a decade ago in Japan. The organosilicone’s patent was approved in China on April 2, 2008, according to the latest patent lawsuit filed by the company’s Beijing arm.

The HRI organosilicone patent is one of Dow Corning’s key intellectual property. LED lighting equipment reliability can be improved by injecting the phenyl group organosilicone glue. The glue is capable of improving LEDs lumen output, optimize equipment protection, and increasing air tightness.

The company noted it will defend its intellectual property to ensure clients will receive products that have excellent quality and reliability.
