Optronik Berlin GmbH Takes off

Subsidiary of Instrument Systems closes year with major success

Optronik Berlin GmbH has been owned by Instrument Systems GmbH since January 2010 and the company can now reflect on a successful first year under the new management. Once more, Asian markets including China proved to be the growth drivers in 2010, and increasingly also South-east Asia.

Landmark successes included supplying the leading standards and research institute SIRIM Berhad/Malaysia, the National Vehicle Test Center in Bekaski – an agency of the Indonesian Transport Ministry – as well as expansion of cooperation with Applus-Idiada/Spain and with Automotive Lighting, Rjazan/Russia. Each of these customers was equipped with Optronik SMS10H goniophotometers, and other test and measurement instruments.
The fast-growing manufacturer and exporter of automobiles, Chery Automobile, also equipped its new development centre in Wuhu/China with a complete photometric laboratory from Optronik.

“We are very pleased about the positive development of Optronik since Instrument Systems took over the company from X-Rite. Although we anticipated modest investment activity for the core automotive market in the wake of the economic crisis in 2009, the volume of incoming orders booked actually increased significantly. This upturn enabled Optronik to reinforce and continue expanding its leading position in the market for supplying photometric laboratories in the automotive sector. We’re also expecting outstanding perspectives for Optronik in the current business year,” concluded Richard Distl, President of Optronik Berlin and Instrument Systems, in a review of the first year following the takeover.
