Japan Showa Denko K.K. raised its blue LED production capacity

Japan Showa Denko K.K. (SDK) has raised its blue LED production capacity from 200 million units per month to 340 million units per month at its Chiba site.

SDK made a trial run to secure product quality and stable operations after completion of expansion work in July, and has already started commercial operation.

According to SDK, due to increased use in such applications as backlight for LCD TVs and general lighting ,demand for blue LEDs is expected to grow around 10% a year on the average in 2011,so it will promote technical development to further increase output of LED chips and improve production efficiency.
