James Yorgey Reelected as NLB Chairman

James “Jim” Yorgey, P.E., LC, CTS, Lutron Electronics Company’s technical-applications manager, has been re-elected chair of the National Lighting Bureau, the independent, not-for-profit, lighting-education foundation sponsored by professional societies, trade associations, manufacturers, utilities, and agencies of the U.S. government.

Mark Lien, L.C., CLEP, CLMC, HBDP, LEED BD&C, government & industry relations director for Bureau-sponsor OSRAM SYLVANIA, was re-elected vice chair. Cary S. Mendelsohn (Imperial Lighting Maintenance Company), representing the interNational Association of Lighting Management Companies (NALMCO), was re-elected secretary/treasurer.

Yorgey joined Lutron in 1974 and, since then, has advanced to varied positions in the company’s quality control, engineering, marketing, and sales departments. As Lutron’s technical-applications manager, Jim works with Lutron’s sales and marketing groups throughout the mid-Atlantic region, providing technical support for the integration of lighting, lighting controls, and window treatments into commercial spaces. A long-time member of the Bureau’s board of directors, Jim has contributed to lighting education at Parsons School of Architecture in New York and the INFOCOMM Institute for Professional Development. He is actively involved in the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES), another Bureau sponsor, and a variety of other technical and community organizations.

Jim earned a Bachelor of Engineering Technology degree from The Pennsylvania State University. He is a licensed professional engineer and has also earned Lighting Certified (LC) and Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) credentials.
