Highlights this week:

San’an Opto said that the company has engaged in preliminary discussions with Osram upon a potential acquisition or partnership. However, the two parties only met once to discuss related issues so far.

Nichia filed a request for a preliminary injunction in Germany at the Düsseldorf District Court against Mouser Electronics Inc. In response to Nichia’s press release regarding an injunction action against Mouser, Everlight clarified that the company has signed patent cross license agreement with Osram since 2003. According to Everlight, the company applied only Osram’s white LED patent on their products.

Cree confirmed that the company has laid off approximately 2.5% of its employees at its Durham headquarters in response to current business conditions.
