Radius Displays Unveils Robotic LED Display in Times Square

In early August 2017, the most technically sophisticated, robotic LED display in the world will be formally launched. Radius Displays International, in collaboration with our client, has spent over 4 years leading the design, engineering, testing and fabrication of the 2,600 square foot display.

The sign creates a dramatic 3-D video experience that is unlike anything else in Times Square, or indeed the world.

Each LED module moves independently at up to 2 feet per second, creating multiple display surfaces for a unique lighting pattern that incorporates over 1.5 million individual pixels.

This one-of-a-kind display will showcase the synergy between the dynamic content and moving panels. The robotic technology we’ve developed and is now patented, will be a game changer for designers and creative teams; it provides enormous new possibilities for user engagement.

As we draw closer to the formal launch date, I’d like to provide you with a behind the scenes view of how this project went from concept drawings to the final build in Times Square.

The project is led by our small, but incredibly dedicated and talented team of engineers and project managers at Radius Displays International.
