Sunovia Energy Technologies, Inc., an energy independence company based in Florida, U.S., announced Wednesday that it has completed Phase I of the Fairview Parkway roadway LED installation, and has released a video of the installation.

Each LED light fixture reduces carbon emissions by 1,000 pounds per year versus a typical HID (high-intensity discharge) fixture, and will reduce carbon emissions by more than six tons per fixture during its lifetime. In addition, more than $250,000 will be saved in energy savings and maintenance costs during the lifetime of these fixtures.

"Wherever we can save money for the taxpayer on government property, we're going to do that”, stated Matt Donnell, assistant to the town manager of Fairview, “So we're not just going to stop with Fairview Parkway, because we have a nice, big mixed-use development center there, and that's the reason we've brought in LED lighting. It's to save costs, to be a leader in this technology and to show people that you can be effective by spending maybe a little more money upfront, but you recoup your cost within three years, and with the status of the economy nowadays, people really want to know where their money is going, especially if they are paying taxes.”
