U.S. Cellular Field Home of the Chicago White Sox Scores a Real Deal with Upgraded LED Lighting from PolyBrite International

U.S. Cellular Field Hits a Home Run with Cost Saving Borealis® LED Panel Lighting Installation

U.S. Cellular Field, owned by the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority and home of the Chicago White Sox, is in the zone by replacing dated lighting fixtures with PolyBrite Borealis® LED Panel Lights in concession stands and workstations throughout the ballpark.  With up to 2.9 million fans passing through the hallways of U.S. Cellular Field annually, Borealis® LED Panels are improving the appearance, safety and security of busy areas.

“These lights far surpassed my expectations as soon as they were installed in the first few stands,” said Don Esposito, Senior Director of Purchasing, Construction for Chicago White Sox.  “This will have quite an impact on our fans and employees, definitely enhancing the appearance of the concessions, and increasing work productivity.”  Mr. Esposito further noted, “Congratulations to PolyBrite.  All I can say is WOW!”

PolyBrite replaced the severely outdated T12 U-Bend Fluorescent tubes, which consume 78 Watts per fixture, with Borealis 2 x 2 LED Flat Panels, which consume only 50 Watts per fixture.  The modern Borealis LED Panels were seamlessly installed, with the Cool White producing a clean white light to enhance true colors in the concourses, and Warm White panels providing clean useful light to ballpark employees in the backrooms and workstations.

“The pleasing light of the Borealis panels instantly enhance the aesthetics and provide even light eliminating glare and shadows,” said Carl Scianna, President and CEO of PolyBrite International.  Mr. Scianna further noted that “Borealis LED Panels provide excellent visibility and color rendering for the workers and sport enthusiasts ordering fare, while delivering major energy and maintenance savings for the ballpark!  We are proud to be part of the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority green initiatives for U.S. Cellular Field.”

Borealis LED panel lighting is designed to replace traditional, power demanding fluorescent and incandescent lights in standard drop ceiling and surface mount fixtures.  A highly reflective diffusion lens produces a soft, consistent light, effectively illuminating surfaces and ensures uniform and optimal light distribution without glare or pixilation.  Borealis LED panels sharply reduce energy consumption and are fully interchangeable panels that are simple to install and effectively eliminate maintenance costs associated with replacing traditional bulbs or faulty ballasts.  Unlike traditional fluorescent lights, the Borealis panels contain no mercury or hazardous gases, and completely eliminate disposal and recycling costs.  The Borealis Panels are dimmable, meet NEMA codes, are UL listed, and include Lighting Facts verified product.

U.S. Cellular Field Home of the Chicago White Sox is located west of the Dan Ryan Expressway in Chicago's Armour Square neighborhood.
