Hot Picks of the Week June 23-27

Highlights this week:

Nichia is very focused on new patent suits, and filed not one but four new suits. The patent suits, include those involving U.S. LED bulb distributors Feit Electric, Meridian, Lowe’s and L G Supplier (not LG Supplier). These three suits are centered around the 250 patent, which involves resin and LED chip leadframe structures. The last suit targeting B&Q self-branded LED bulbs mostly has to do with YAG patents, and unlike the first three is clamping down on home improvement company’s branded bulbs.

Philips Lighting announced earlier this week it will be exercising over-allotment option, but due to conditions stated in the press release we can’t publish the full content. Sorry guys.

DOE has announced its new advanced SSL technologies funding, which includes LED and OLED technologies. Cree made it to the list among LED recipients.

A new scientific study suggests milk spoils faster under LED lights because photosensitive materials in proteins get destroyed faster under bright lights. For more details please see below.
