Philips Lumileds Targets Mid-Power LED Market as Lighting Market Competition Intensifies

With LED lighting market on the rise, international lighting giant Philips Lumileds is officially entering the mid-power LED market in 2013. In response to mid-power LED market demands, the company has added Luxeon 3535 packaging component series to their lighting packages. At the same time, the company is also actively entering low-power market and promoting Luxeon 4014 LED package components. It is estimated Lumileds will continue to release new low-power LED products in the second half of 2013. The trend of big international lighting manufacturers entering the low-mid power LED indicates intensified competition in the LED lighting market.

Philips Lumileds has successful breakthroughs in its high-power LED market strategies. It has been actively moving into low-mid power LED in 2013, and first released a mid-power 3535L, 3535 2D, Luxeon 3535 series, and 4014 LED package components. In addition, Philips Lumileds is providing clients in the mid-power LED market the same 5630 mid-power LED package option, while luminous efficacy is emphasized for 3535 series package components.

Philips releases 3535L in 2H13 to target mid-power LED market

Philips Lumileds officially entered the mid-power LED market in 2013. The company released 3535L package components in the second half of 2013 after launching 3525 2D package components in the first half of 2013. The 3535L highlights high lumens/watt luminous efficacy (165 ml/W luminous efficacy), Correlated Color Temperature (CCT) of 2700 K to 6500K, and provides clients the options to choose between three Color Rendering Index (CRI) options of 70, 80 and 90. The products are applied in lamps, bulbs, and lights with wider lighting angles, such as PAR lamps and MR16. Mid-powered LED’s high luminous efficacy and high color uniformity are the main reasons behind Philips Lumileds move into the market.

Philips Lumileds synchronizes the completion of low-powered LED product lines

In the past, Philips Lumileds was focused on high-power LED market, and entered the low-powered LED market in 2013 with the promotion of 4014 low-powered package component products. This new low-powered LED product has a luminous efficacy of 160lm/W under 4000K CCT environment; 138lm/W luminous efficacy when using a 30mA driver IC; and has lowest CRI of 80 under 4000K CCT. Philips is also promoting 4014 package components that can be extended to applications for T8 tubes, monitors, strip light, and indirect lighting fields including interior decorations.
