Siteco Provides Modario IP20 LED Modules for Lighting Renovation of Urban Railway Carriage House

Siteco, subsidiary of OSRAM, provides 270 units of Modario IP20 LED modules for modernization of an urban railway carriage house of Linz AG. Linz Linien intended to renovate the lighting system of a 4,500 square meter-large hall for 20 suburban trains. The highly efficient trunking systems are easy to mount and save up to 30% on energy costs in comparison to the previous lighting solution.

The illumination of the urban railway carriage house of Linz AG was completely renovated using this efficient LED solution from Siteco. The renovation of the long-serving mercury vapor lamps and CCGs was necessary for several reasons: The old lights were really dirty, used too much energy, and no longer provided sufficient illumination. The new LED solution to use Modario IP20 LED modules from Siteco has an impressive set of advantages in comparison with the old lights: Improved quality of light, a longer service life, high energy efficiency, and modern control possibilities.

A total of 270 LED modules were mounted to the strip lighting carrier rails. They ensure light, glare-free illumination throughout the hall. With up to 350 lux, small repair and maintenance jobs can be carried out safely and quickly. The illumination is controlled using the customer's own KNX building management system and is used in a demand-oriented manner based on motion sensors.

The Modario IP20 LED module complies with all requirements of Linz Linien. Installation to the trunking rail is very simple with rotary catches. The completely sealed construction and service life of the LED module (up to 50,000 hours) minimize effort for maintenance, and thanks to the integrated DALI interface the lighting system can be integrated into the building management and controlled according to needs.

In terms of electrical connected load the LED solution achieves energy savings of 30%, and with more and better light. Where previously 150 lux was achieved, now up to 350 lux is available, homogeneously and without glare.
