China National Wet Land Museum Receives LED Lighting Makeover

Future Lighting Solutions LED department announced completing renovations of National Wet Land Museum of China’s night lights in a joint project with Yajiang Applied Technology (YAT).

The museum is located in the southeast corner of the Xixi National Wet Land Park in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. The modern museum encompasses collections, research, displays, education and entertainment.

When the museum was established in 2010 it came with night lights, but the design did not include its landmark tourist tower. As a result the museum was completely submersed in the Xixi National Wet Land Park night view. In addition, after two years of usage luminaire quality issues began to surface leading to light deterioration and high failure rates. Hangzhou City officials held responsible decided to renovate the museum’s night lights.

The new design is mainly focused on emphasizing the features of the surrounding wet land’s atmosphere, and to establish a representative wet land park building. It is also hoped that the new design can greatly lower energy consumption and increase lighting effect.

Future Lighting Solutions LED department and Yajiang Applied Technology jointly designed and picked high quality luminaires. The energy saving “green” lighting systems produces purer colors with warmer color temperature and gives a more distinctive night view effect from a distance. The design used in total 144 LED linear wall washer lamps, and 36 1W LED bulbs were installed at an interval of one meter.

The museum used 42 sets of 120 X 45 degree partial lighting flood lights to light up the mountain section. The lights were installed on fixed poles to give a flood light effect to grass on the mountain. The flood light beam angle was adjusted to avoid overflowing light from affecting the tourism tower’s lighting.

Taking into consideration the different heights of Xixi National Wet Land Park trees, two different types of luminaires were used for plant lighting. For shrubs shorter than three meters, LED landscape lights with 180°adjustable mount were used, while flood lights was used for shrubs taller than three meters. Since the ground is covered by many dead leaves and grass, light from a normal ground flood light would have been easily blocked. Therefore, ground lights with anti-dirt glass were used mostly in short shrubs. This not only guarantees lighting effects, but also protects the luminaire and significantly reduces daily maintenance issues.

“It was an honor for YAT to successfully complete the lighting project for Xixi National Wet Land’s tourism tower, which has been coined as the “eye of Xixi,” said Andy Roddam, VP, Yajiang Applied Technology. “We would like to thank Future Lighting Solutions LED lighting department’s technical support and assistance in selecting LED lighting models.”
