Philips Lumileds High-power Emitters Deliver Up to 18% Flux Improvement

With newly improved efficacy and precise optical control, the LUXEON Z ES is now an even better choice for applications requiring tight beam angles such as spotlights, downlights, retrofit lamps and outdoor streetlights.

First introduced in March 2013, the LUXEON Z ES emitter is 75% smaller than a standard 3535 package. Measuring only 1.6 x 2.0 mm in size, the emitter features an undomed design enabling close packing density of the LEDs in space-constrained applications.  “The small size of the LED allows 25% smaller optics thereby reducing the overall cost of the application without sacrificing performance. We simultaneously achieve greater luminance and punch from our high density high-power emitter,” said Jennifer Holland, Product Marketing Manager, LEED AP.

In addition to upgraded performance across the existing portfolio, Philips Lumileds has introduced new 4000K and 5700K emitters in the 90 CRI range to address needs in stadium and museum lighting.

Color consistency of the LUXEON Z ES is ensured by the emitters’ 5-, 3- and first-ever 1-step MacAdam Ellipse binning options. “Designers can select color consistency based on the demands of their specific application,” added Holland.

These LUXEON Z ES emitters are available across a broad range of CCTs at 70, 80 and 90 CRI as of April 1, 2014.
