Acuity Brands Wins 'Best in Class' Award at NGL SSL Design Indoor Competition

Six Acuity Brands LED and OLED lighting solutions were selected as winners of the 2014 Next Generation LuminairesTM (NGL) Solid-State Lighting (SSL) Design Indoor Competition, including a prestigious 'Best in Class' award for a new LED luminaire series from Mark Architectural LightingTM. Additionally, Acuity Brands won half of all of the awards in the ‘Emerging’ technologies category with unique LED and OLED luminaires from Winona® Lighting.

According to NGL, the competition "seeks to encourage technical innovation and recognize and promote excellence in the design of energy-efficient LED luminaires for commercial, industrial and institutional applications." Of the more than 250 entries, Acuity Brands received six awards for its LED and OLED lighting solutions - one in the 'Best in Class' category, two in the 'Emerging' category and three in the 'Recognized' category.

The judging panel selected the luminaires on the basis of 11 criteria, including color quality, appropriate illuminance, light distribution, glare control, serviceability and replacement, energy efficiency, lumen maintenance, power quality, dimmability, value, and aesthetic appearance and style.
