Elemental LED Expands Workforce to Over 100 Employees in Nevada

Elemental LED, an engineering and technology-based manufacturer of LED lighting solutions, and The Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) announced the relocation of Elemental LED’s U.S. manufacturing and R&D operations to Reno, Nevada. The company is moving its corporate headquarters into an adjacent property located in the South Meadows area of Reno and expects to be operational by end of the third quarter of this year. Elemental LED plans to hire up to 100 employees over the next two years.

Xcel Energy Awards the 2016 Data Center Efficiency Award to H5 Data Centers

H5 Data Centers, a national colocation and wholesale data center provider, announced the receipt of Xcel Energy’s 2016 Data Center Efficiency Award. Xcel Energy recognized H5’s sustainability leadership through its $15 million energy efficiency and infrastructure improvement upgrades at its Denver data center campus. UNIQUE Project for Developing Mass Market UV LEDs for Disinfection

Eco-friendly purification of water – UV light is already being used to kill water-borne germs but the light sources used for this purpose are still predominantly mercury vapor lamps. UV LEDs have so far proved unattractive for reasons of cost. The aim of the UNIQUE project funded by the Bavarian Ministry for Economic Affairs, Media, Energy and Technology is therefore to develop high-power UV LEDs for industrial use. The project, which is being coordinated by Osram Opto Semiconductors, involves five Bavarian companies and research institutions.
