Grow Organic Veggies with Self-sufficient Ecosystem

 

Ever fancy to eat healthier? Try picturing this. Having a fresh bowl of veggies harvested from your back yard or sprinkle home grown herbs onto your hand- made pasta for a laid back Saturday dinner. Does any of these sound attractive to you?

A company called Grove did their research and produce a self-sufficient ecosystem that uses aquaponics to grow veggies indoors. Grove is a company that strive to provide sustainable products to its customers. This company started a Kickstarter campaign for their Ecosystem, targeting at US $100,000 and has successfully raised 217,509 so far.

Using aquaponics, Grove utilizes the waste created by fish, snails in the fish tank and transform them into organic fertilizers for the greens.

The Grove ecosystem lets you grow vegetables including Arugula, Watercress, Kale and Bok Choy and herbs include Basils, Cilantro and Mint. Moreover, try growing bush beans, sugar peas, tomatoes and even strawberries and some other fruiting crops. The Ecosystem uses a natural process named aquaponics, which forms a friendly cycle among beneficial bacteria, fish and plants so as to grow organic greens.

Grovw is a sustainable, self- sufficient mini farm.

The Grove ecosystem is fitted with full spectrum LED lights, ranging from 2000K to 5000K. The adjustable LED lights are able to mimic the sun to trigger photosynthesis.

The roof of the ecosystem can be vertically adjusted so that users can decide the amount of light and degree of exposure.

The ecosystem also offers a self-cleaning aquarium. By design, the aquaponics cycle starts from the fish tank, where all the waste generated by the fish, snails and frogs in the aquarium all becomes fertilizer of your little green garden.

Everything that comes with “smart” in their name are equipped with a designated app, this smart ecosystem is no exception. Simply insert the veggie or herb you plan to grow, the system will remind you when the veggie can be harvested.

The iOS app keep users updated about their crops and feed users with unlimited farming knowledge.

However interesting the ecosystem sounds, a single Grove ecosystem will cost you US $2,700. At least 18 backers have backed the project for more than US $2,700 and will receive their Grove ecosystem in May 2016.
