Philips SimpleSet: Velocity Unplugged

Speed up your business with new wireless programmable LED technology

Programming LED Drivers is nothing new. But it hasn’t been simple or fast. It requires expensive programmable drivers, and requires wiring and powering up each individual driver. Or it requires that cumbersome mechanical resistors be attached to the driver for just setting drive current. This just doesn’t work for high volume, reliable manufacturing in the lighting business.

Philips’ new SimpleSet wireless programming technology makes programmable LED Drivers practical for bread-and-butter business. It’s not just for high-end products and systems, it’s for everything. SIMPLESET uses proven NFC technology to communicate to the driver. It is fast, secure and easy to use. Just touch the programming device to the designated part of the driver and it’s done.

Programming has never been easier.

1. Take the driver out of the box. Locate the designated communication area on the driver2.

2. Touch the LED driver to the programming device. Programming confirmation will appear on the monitor.

3. Install the driver into the fixture.

SimpleSet technology is being introduced in July on the next set of industry standard PHILIPS ADVANCE XITANIUM LED DRIVERS: Xitanium 40W and 75W models. SimpleSet will specifically allow fast and easy programming of drive current by OEMs. An inexpensive programming device (it’s basically an antenna) will be available to connect into manufacturing systems and the programming tool. There is nothing proprietary about the programming device itself, and OEMs can easily incorporate the hardware and concept into their process as they see fit. The programming tool is based on PHILIPS’ MULTIONE PROGRAMMING SOFTWARE which is made available at no charge.

It is simple and it is real. This is how programming will be done in the industry going forward.  The PHILIPSAdvance Xitanium Linear Drivers are the first to incorporate SimpleSet since OEMs are demanding an easy way to set drive currents. They need the flexibility. Drivers for more applications – such as downlighting and outdoor – will also start to use SimpleSet in the near future.
