Samsung Completes Lineup of High-Power LEDs with LH351C for Outdoor Lighting Applications

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. just announced that it now has a full lineup of high-power LEDs with the introduction of its new 5W-class LH351C, which follows its LH351B (3W) and LH351D (10W) offerings.

The LH351 series has the same form factor (3.5mm x 3.5mm), which allows for exceptionally easy design enhancements without changing the printed circuit board or the second optic solution. This newly expanded ceramic-based, high-power package series is expected to help lower the total cost of ownership for LED lights, and reduce time-to-market for LED lighting manufacturers.

Samsung’s LH351C is based on the same proven flip-chip, phosphor processing and optic extraction technologies as the LH351B and LH351D. Its advanced phosphor film enables optimized light distribution with enhanced light quality, compared to widely-used conformal phosphor coating. In addition, the LH351C simplifies the design of lighting solutions that use a second optic lens, making it particularly well-suited for high-density street lighting that requires complex lighting distribution designs.

The LH351B was approved as a standard solution for outdoor lighting applications a few years ago. But due to today’s need for greater energy savings, more challenging energy levels have been achieved with the LH351C.

The LH351C, which features an exceptionally high efficacy of 160lm/W (700mA, 85℃), has been optimized for premium street lights that will meet DLC Premium technical standards. DLC standards, created by the Design Lights Consortium™, are widely recognized in North America as a preferred means of evaluating LED lighting products in terms of performance and quality.

The LH351C also supports CCT (Correlated Color Temperature) specifications ranging from 2700K to 6500K. The newly expanded package series completes Samsung’s roadmap of high-power LEDs, which was revealed at LIGHTFAIR International 2017.
