Nepcon Japan 2017 Show Report: An Expo Expansion And A New Establishment in Nagoya Can Be Expected in 2018, Says Reed Japan

Asia’s major electronic trade show Nepcon Japan 2017 demonstrated diverse cutting-edge technologies concerning lighting, robotics, and automotive application, which communicated future trends to the world. LEDinside had an exclusive interview with Reed Japan, the event organizer; and would like to disclose some incisive and valuable insights from Yuhi Maenozo, the Director of Reed Japan Show, and the Media Organizer Yuki Omichi.

2,552 Exhibiting Companies From 28 Nations

Reed Japan for the first time used both East and West halls for a trade show, and in terms of the scale of technology fairs in Japan, Nepcon Japan 2017 is the biggest technology exposition ever hosted, according to the show director Maenozo. Not only did the number of attendees hit a new high, but that of business dialogues also saw a drastic boost. There are 2,552 exhibiting companies in total, reportedly from 28 countries. 341 of them are overseas manufacturers. It is worth noting that there was a high population from the field of research and development (R&D), which suggested the depth and breadth of technical communication and knowledge exchange has been redefined.

The trade show attracted a great number of attendees from R&D and manufacturing, which excited exhibitors.

A Future Of Technology Integration

Maenozo told that expositions showcasing automotive technologies, including self-driving, ADAS, electric car components and power systems, automotive electronics, connected car, and LED headlights are located in the East Hall; while the West Hall contains RoboDex, WEARABLE EXPO and SMART FACTORY Expo that demonstrated the future formed by advanced technologies from those fields. Both halls were rammed and attendees were from all over the world.

LEdinside found out that LED and sensor technologies have been applied in multiple fields such as the Smart Factory, wearables, and robotics, which suggests more niche markets will be open to LED and sensor manufacturers. Acknowledging this trend, Reed Japan declared to expand the exposition for LED technology into one for the showcase of both LED and sensor technology.

AUTOMOTIVE WORLD 2017 is also much larger than it was in 2016.

Omichi revealed many Taiwanese companies participated in RoboDex, WEARABLE EXPO and Light Tech EXPO, introducing their products and techniques to overseas buyers and visitors. She reckoned Taiwan possesses plenty of potential in the development of robotic security, while Japan aces the manufacturing of industrial robots.

An Expansion And A New Establishment In 2018

The selling of exhibition booths for shows in 2018 started and has been going pretty well, said Maenozo. Reed Japan aimed to recruit over 5,000 exhibitors, twice the number of 2017, in and outside Japan.

Meanwhile, except for WEARABLE EXPO, all shows will be held again in Nagoya after Tokyo in September, 2018. Reed Japan explained that was because major factories, including Toyota and Mitsubishi, are situated in an industrial heartland close to Nagoya in the mid area of Japan and it would be more convenient for exhibitors to sell their products to them.
