U.S. DOE Recognizes Wendy’s Franchisee, Wendo Group for Leading Energy Performance

The U.S. Department of Energy has recognized The Wendy's® Company and one of its franchisees, Wendco Group, for their partnership in the Better Buildings Challenge and for leadership in energy efficiency. The Wendy's Company has made a commitment to reduce energy consumption in U.S. company-owned restaurants by 20 percent per transaction by 2025.  Wendy's is also the first restaurant company to include franchisees in the Better Buildings Challenge. TrendForce:2012 December LED Light Bulb ASP Continued a Mild Sequential Drop; Korean Vendors Gear Up on US Deployment

According to LEDinside, the LED research division of TrendForce, the ASP volatility of LED light bulb has been continued into December 2012. Products from the US took the led as more new items were launched during the month. ASP for those LED bulbs targeted to replace the traditional 40W incandescent light bulb posted a mild 0.2% sequential gain to US$18.70. And those targeted to replace the 60W incandescent lamp posted a 3.9% drop to US$30.90 in the same period.

RPI researchers use streamlined polarization to boost performance of LEDs

Researchers at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) have developed and demonstrated a new type of LED with significantly improved lighting performance and energy efficiency. The researchers worked in collaboration with Samsung Electro-Mechanics to develop the new polarization-matched LED that they say exhibits an 18 percent increase in light output and a 22 percent increase in wall-plug efficiency, which essentially measures the amount of electricity the LED converts into light.
