Rambus Developes Business Alliance with Elite Group to Sell LED Bulb

Rambus Inc has developed a business alliance with the Elite Group, which designs and distributes home goods, lighting and other consumable products. According to Rambus, its LED bulbs are designed using MicroLens optical technology that permits the use of a cylindrical light guide in the bulb. Rambus Taps into LED Lighting Industry

Rambus has developed an intellectual property (IP) portfolio called Pentelic to tap into LED lighting industry. Pentelic enables edge-lit light guides to provide both area and directional room lighting offices, schools and retail. According to the company, its IP space is to do with edge lighting a light guide with LEDs and the use of micro-optics embedded into the light guide providing ray angle control so light can be directed out of the light guide. Rambus will start quantity production LED TVs, with MicroLens' edge-type single-side (on the bottom) LED technology

In 2011, Technology licensing company Rambus planed to start quantity production of an LCD TV backlight unit (BLU), with MicroLens' edge-type single-side (on the bottom) LED technology. It is possible that the mount of using LEDs in a 40-inch model would reduce to 142 unite from 240 units at present.
