ZMD AG Introduced Low-voltage LED ICs for Battery-powered Handheld Devices

ZMD AG has introduced ZLED7012 and ZLED7022, the second wave of its ZLED family of LED control solutions, featuring two low-voltage ICs available for battery-powered handheld devices. Both of the two LED ICs, suit for the ultra-small UTQFN package (2x2mm), and feature low-noise, constant-frequency charge pump DC-DC converters that can drive up to four or six strings of LEDs, respectively. Only three external components are required.

OSRAM's OSLON SSL LEDs Outline the Profile of Stadium, Add Colours to Asian Games

The opening and closing ceremonies of the Guangzhou Asian Games will be held in a newly constructed half-stadium in Haixinsha Square. OSRAM Opto Semiconductors’ OSLON SSL LEDs were chosen to light up the exterior of the venue. These LEDs were used to produce a variety of colours, highlighting the gill-like side openings of the half-stadium, flanked by the city’s UFO-like opera house and the latticed Guangzhou TV Tower.

Uniform Illumination from OSRAM’s LEDs Help Light up Guangzhou for the Asian Games

LED lighting brings uniform illumination to the Zhujiang New City Central Business District (CBD) in the city of Guangzhou in time for the Asian Games in China. NXP’s Automotive LED Driver ICs Available in Vehicle Head and Tail Lights

NXP Semiconductors N.V. has promoted two collections of automotive LED driver ICs ASL1010NTK and ASL1010PHN, designed for vehicle LED headlights and tail lights. According to NXP, automotive LEDs have used complex, relatively expensive driver ICs made for generic Solid State Lighting applications that lack many of the critical functions needed for automotive applications.

Barco Released LED-lit, DLP-based Video Walls with an Improved LED Engine

Visualization specialist Barco has released a new line of LED-lit, DLP-based video walls with an improved LED engine. The new series features an advanced heat management system based on liquid cooling technology, which brings the LED temperature down to the optimal level. This results in a significantly longer lifetime of the projection system, amounting to 80,000 hours of continuous operation in eco-mode – or a 35% improvement over competing video walls.

OSRAM’s Infrared Power TOPLED with Stack Chip Technology

The Power TOPLED SFH4250S from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors emits almost double the infrared light compared to the standard component SFH4250. The new IR-LED achieves a radiant intensity of typically 22 mW/sr and a total radiant flux of 70 mW in continuous operation at 70 mA driving current. With its high radiance the component allows the design of very compact lighting units. In existing designs the effective range can be increased significantly.
