General Chinese Luminaire Market Prices to Inch Up 10% in 2015

As the Dragon Boat Festival approaches in China on June 1, 2014, the market has entered a new luminaire discount season, according to a report by Chinese-language media Kyushu Building Network. Top luminaire brands have all increased prices because of rising raw material and logistic costs. However, since lighting products are not daily commodities most consumers have been less sensitive towards incremental price increases. Some industry experts project prices will be up as much as 10 percent next year.

China’s LED Market Scale Hits US$ 32.1 Billion

China’s LED application market scale reached RMB 200 billion (Us $32.1 billion) in 2013, with residential lighting making up around 30 percent, according to statistics by the Guangya Academy of Lighting Research in Guangzhou. LED lighting prices have dropped a staggering 70 percent over the past two years, with LED 3W bulbs priced at around RMB 14. The market has already accepted LED bulb price/performance ratio. Indoor lighting has become the largest driver for LED application market growth in China.

This project was located in a newly constructed park in suburban Shanghai. Originally, the building was designed as a public facilities room in the park, yet never been used since the park was completed. Due to the fact that there is a newly finished subway station, it also provides fresh energy to the surrounding area. For this reason, local government is willing to introduce a whole new design concept and a different business model so that they can try to create a new building type that would be more suitable to regional residents and customers. Designers and builders applied a series of copper gilded and carved out metal sun shading boards in shape of tea leaves at the southern part of this building to achieve the “eco-friendly, trendy and cultural” concept, and make this building an energy-saving and poetic lounge that represents the Chinese tea culture.
