Broit Light, A New Competitor in LED Market

Broit Light, a company based in Wayzata, Minnesota, USA has last week launched its initial production of LED bulbs at its production facility in Long Lake. The start-up company has claimed to have come up with a line of more energy-efficient and adaptable light bulbs.

At present, the target markets of Broit Light’ LED bulbs include commercial users such as stores, restaurants, government offices and hotels. The website it has just launched on Tuesday will also be employed to sell the bulbs directly to consumers.

It’s reported by the industry sources that more than 500 companies across the world are competing in the LED lighting industry which is a sector of bright outlook and has been growing all the time, while Broit has expressed their confidence in this market, for they have patens of the first all solid-state LED light bulbs. The form, fit and function of the LED bulbs will make them direct replacement to existing traditional light sources in the market, according to the officials of the company.

“The Broit family of bulbs will look like today’s incandescent and fluorescent light bulbs and will fit into existing receptacles, produce the same light and color output and will be 55 to 88 percent more efficient,’’ wrote the company in its business plan overview.

LED lighting is currently more than a $20-billion-a-year segment, and is likely to grow at a rate of 20 percent or faster during the next five years, according to the estimate of the Federal Department of Energy. In the United States alone, total lighting is more than a $122-billion-a-year industry. Given its unique technology, the revenue potential of Broit Light could be enormous.

“Because the market is so vast, if we capture to 2 to 3 percent of the market’’, Broit would generate revenue of more than $1 billion annually, said Lance Eaves, company vice president of marketing and sales. “Our goal is to become the next Cargill [of green lighting]’’.
