ICAP Ocean Tomo announced today that it has been retained to sell the intellectual property portfolio for the Gentle Waves LED Photomodulation® System. This portfolio contains 60 issued and pending patents in the U.S. and worldwide in addition to regulatory approvals, trademarks, logos, and related assets.

The Gentle Waves® LED Photomodulation® System has been scientifically proven to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It does not rely on thermal energy so there is no trauma to the skin, eliminating pain, discomfort, and side effects. Users spend less than one minute sitting in front of a row of specially designed LED lights pulsating at precise wavelengths and photomodulation codes to stimulate the production of collagen and inhibit the growth of collagenase, an enzyme that breaks down the skin causing it to age prematurely. The Gentle Waves® LED Photomodulation® System is used in conjunction with other procedures such as intense pulsed light and laser treatments, microdermabrasions, chemical peels, and Botox®.  Its value is strengthened by additional applications of the portfolio in wound healing, stimulation of hair growth, and acne reduction.

In January 2005, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Light BioScience, LLC to market and promote the Gentle Waves® LED Photomodulation® technology as a system used to reduce the appearance of periorbital (eye area) wrinkles and rhytids; Gentle Waves® is the first LED device to receive such clearance. On February 25, 2008, the Gentle Waves System became the first LED device to receive a 510(k) over-the-counter (OTC) clearance from the FDA for the treatment of periorbital wrinkles.
