Snapdeal Partners up with EESL to Sell LED Bulbs for INR 99 in India

India’s second largest online retailer Snapdeal has formed a partnership with the country’s state-owned Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) to sell LED bulbs nationwide for INR 99 (US $1.46), according to an Economic Times report.

EESL is implementing the Center’s Domestic Efficient Lighting Program (DELP), under the program Snapdeal will be selling the LED bulbs for INR 99 per bulb to bolster the Ministry of Power’s LED bulb distribution online to more than 5,000 towns and cities in India, stated Snapdeal in its press release.

The partnership will expand the Indian government’s LED bulb distribution reach and strengthen the cause of the DELP program.

“Snapdeal is proud to be chosen as partner by the Power Ministry to support its DELP program,” said Rahul Taneja, Vice President, Category Management said Snapdeal. “With our unmatched reach in metros as well as tier 2 and beyond, and our huge customer base, we will be able to support the Government achieve its target of replacing incandescent bulbs with LEDs.”
