LG Display Rumored to be Supplying OLED Display Solutions to Mercedes-Benz New E-Class

Mercedes-Benz, the leading luxury car maker, might be the first to adopt innovative OLED display solutions from LG Display in its vehicles, industry sources told Yonhap News.

The OLEDs provided by LG Display will be 12.3-inch P-OLED display to be installed in the carmaker’s latest E-Class. It’s estimated that E-Class models account for 42% of the German carmaker’s combined shipment.

The display will be split into two sections, each projecting different information.

The P-OLED features high flexibility and improved resolution, opening up yet new horizon for automotive interior lighting and display.

LG Display projected that the company will realize approximately US $2 billion sales from the automotive display sector and top the global ranking list with up to 30% market share.

LG Display and Samsung Display are the only two OLED manufacturers that mass produce P-OELDs. LG Display is seeking to sign similar agreements with other automotive makers, said industry watchers.
