Hitachi Maxell’s LED Lantern MIZUSION Powered Only By Water And Salt Is Now Available

MIZUSION, Hitachi Maxell’s new lantern powered merely by water and salt, is now on sale. It is able to sustain a decent lifespan of 10 years before use.

Hitachi launched on 11th of Jan the lantern MIZUSION, consuming power generated only by water and salt, is now available. A brand new MIZUSION has a power life of around a decade and can be used as an emergency light. It is estimated to be priced at around JPY$ 3,000 (without tax).  
 
To make MIZUSION work, users only need to pour water and salt in it. With a magnesium bar inside as a cathode, Oxygen as an anode, and salt water as the electrolyte, MIZUSION glows by consuming self-generate electricity.

The short-distance lighting emittance of MIZUSION can reach up to 2,000 lux, and it provides approximately 10 lux illuminance on the surface 1 meter away. The lantern is reusable with the replacement of the magnesium bars. The magnesium energy bar,with a life expectancy of 80 hours, is priced at around JPY$1,000. The portable MIZUSION comes in the size of 95mm x 215mm x 95mm and weighs about 350g.
