LED Taiwan Adds Power Device and Smart Lighting Pavilions to 2016 Show

LED Taiwan to take place in Hall 1 of Nangang Exhibition Center starting this Wednesday has added three new theme pavilions including LED Components, Power Device Pavilion, Smart Lighting Pavilions, said organizers during a press conference held at Taipei World Trade Center Club, Taiwan earlier this afternoon.

The addition of these new pavilions reflect changes in the industry, and Taiwanese manufacturers growing interest in developing niche market products.

“The development of GaN has been closely related with LED developments, and has attracted a lot of interest from manufacturers,” said Terry Tsao, President of Taiwan, SEMI. “We also added smart lighting applications this year, due to the gradual growth of smart homes and smartphone related technologies is pushing demand for smart lighting applications.”

Newly added LED Component pavilion aims to explore new applications, and will feature major LED players including Cree and Lextar, added Tsao.

LED is a large industry in Taiwan, where the country remains the world’s second largest manufacturer.

“It is estimated the LED market value in Taiwan will reach about NT$ 800 billion (US $24.71 billion) in 2016”, said Rex Chuang, President, Optoelectronics Product Solution SBG, LiteOn—citing statistics compiled from LEDinside and IHS.

Held together with Taiwan International Lighting Show (TILS) for the third year, the show aims to integrate products from the LED upstream to downstream, and aims to offer visitors a comprehensive view of the industry developments, said Brian Lee, Deputy Executive Director, Exhibition Department, TAITRA. International buyers from U.S, Eastern European countries such as Romania, and Asia are expected to visit the show this year, he added.

“The show this year features 238 manufacturers, 748 booths and is projected to attract more than 16,000 international buyers,” said Tsao, President of Taiwan division of SEMI.

The four-day show jointly organized by global trade association Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) will run from April 13-16, 2016. Other partners include Taiwan Optoelectronic Semiconductor Industry Association (TOSIA) and Taiwan Lighting Fixture Export Association (TLFEA).
