Smart Socket Vocca Switches Lights on with Simple Voice Commands

Some of you may recall last Friday LEDinside posted an article about the cons of smart bulbs is the requirement of having a fully charged smartphone, that concluded a voice controlled smart bulb would be the perfect solution. Well, it turns out an Israeli entrepreneur Ori Indursky plans to change all that with smart lamp socket Vocca.

Vocca is a plug-and-play smart lamp socket that according to the company does not require any additional installation, setup or WiFi. The smart socket does not require additional cable or power sources, instead it relies on some sort of power conversion technology that is not clearly explained in their Kickstarter project.

Due to heat dissipation issues, the device currently only supports LED and CFL which emits lower levels of heat.

The bulb is connected via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology and uses voice recognition system from Sensory. According to the company, the voice controlled bulbs can switch on in 1.5 seconds, about half the time required by manually flicking on a light switch. The startup company did address, though, one of the major challenges was voice recognition for the device that comes with an in-built microphone.

The company’s Kickstarter project launched on July 30, 2014, has already raised US $ 65,033, way above the pledged US $40,000 goal. Early birds can get the voice controllor for just US $29.
