OSRAM Opto Semiconductors appoints Avnet Electronics Marketing as “Preferred Global Partner”

OSRAM Opto Semiconductors, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of optoelectronic semiconductors announced today that Avnet Electronics Marketing, an operating group of Avnet, Inc., has been selected as OSRAM’s preferred global partner. The appointment is effective immediately in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa (EMEA), Japan and Asia.

As one of the world’s largest distributors of electronic components and embedded systems, Avnet Electronics Marketing’s team of illumination-focused light emitting diode (LED) and lighting engineers – or “illumineers” – assist customers around the globe in applications using LEDs in the illumination, signage, security, medical, industrial and transportation industries. Avnet’s regional LED/lighting design centers are equipped with industry-standard integrating spheres, spectroradiometers, goniophotometers, thermal imagers, and other key equipment– enabling Avnet’s LED team to perform relevant photometric, UV/IR radiometric and thermal measurements across a broad spectrum of products from individual LEDs up to complete luminaires.

“Avnet Electronics Marketing was the logical choice as our Preferred Global Partner for many reasons,” said Aldo Kamper, chief executive officer, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors. “Over the course of our long-standing relationship, Avnet’s LED and lighting technical expertise, solutions-oriented design approach and the ability to leverage a broad range of LED-associated electronic, optical, thermal and interconnect components gives our mutual customers a proven time-to-market advantage. Furthermore Avnet’s global coverage meets the needs of customers who require a global partner to execute their growth plans.”

“The naming of Avnet as OSRAM’s Preferred Global Partner reinforces our continued investment in both expert resources and technology in support of this burgeoning market,” said Harley Feldberg, president, Avnet Electronics Marketing, global. “It is the strength of our people, products and partners -- such as OSRAM -- that continue to give our customers around the world a faster time-to-market advantage and the opportunity to design with the latest energy-efficient, high-performance LED technology.”
