Sony、Sharp and LG would launch price-cut promotions in the China LED-backlit market

In order to seize the upcoming New Year and Lunar New Year holidays’ market share, it’s reported that first-tier vendors such as SonySharp etc would cut price to promote LED-backlit TVs in the China market. The market estimated the average price drop of foreign brand TVs was about 22% in 2010, while price drops of local brand TVs was about 16%.

Sony was the first vendor to launch price-cut promotions. The company had launched a 32-inch LCD TV at only CNY2, 999. in 2011, Sony planed to held price-cut promotions for the complete line-up of its products, of which 60-inch high-end models’ price would drop by CNY7,000, and CNY2,000 for several LED-backlit models.

Following was Sharp, which had lowered its 40-inch LED-backlit model by CNY2, 000, and CNY3, 000 for 46- and 52-inch models.

Also, LG Electronics had cut its 55-inch LED-backlit and 3D models’ price by CNY2,000 and CNY3,000, respectively.

China retail Suning Appliance thought 55-inch foreign brand models’ price would have dropped to the same level as local brands at about CNY13, 999. Gome also indicated that prices for LED-backlit models would drop by an average of 30%. And LED-backlit TV market share would reach 50% in 2011 from about 30-40% currently.
