LED chipmakers Epistar, Tekcore, and Amtran reported December revenues

LED chipmaker Epistar's revenues for December were NT$1.44 billion (US$49.24 million), dropped 13% compared to November. The revenues for the full year in 2010 reached NT$19.76 billion, up 55% from 2009.

The company believes that clients' lowering of inventory at year's end was the main reason for the decline, and expected revenues to rebound in January and overall demand to heat up in March. In the LED TV backlights, Epistar expected that demand would rise, while in the lighting market, the company needed to work harder to achiever better results.

LED chipmaker Tekcore saw December revenues reach NT$195 million, with growth in LED chip shipments for the lighting market. Full-year revenues totaled NT$2.44 billion.

The company expected 1Q revenues to be up by 15% sequentially. And the LED lighting sector would have a 30% share of Tekcore's 2011 revenues, which would bring full year revenues to NT$4.5 billion.

Also, Amtran Technology announced consolidated revenues of NT$9.98 billion (US$341.14 million) for December, an increase of 46.77% sequentially and 42.6% year on year. Consolidated revenues for the whole year totaled NT$76.35 billion, up 13.5% year on year.
