Toshiba Introduces New Cylindrical LED Bulbs

Toshiba Lighting & Technology Corp has added two daylight- and incandescent-color cylindrical (T-type) LED light bulbs to its "E-core" series.

According to the company, the brightnesses of the daylight products are 600lm, and 485lm for incandescent-color products, equivalent to the brightness of a 40W incandescent light bulb. Both of them have rated power consumption of 7.4W. It is the first time that the company has announced to release a T-type LED light bulb.

The external diameter, length and light distribution angle of the 7.4W T-type product are 40mm, 109mm and about 300°, respectively, which are equivalent to those of Toshiba Lighting & Technology's D-type fluorescent light bulb (FED15/13-Z).

The company expects that D- and T-type cylindrical fluorescent light bulbs which are often used in apparatuses that require a compact lamp will be replace by the new LED light bulbs.

What’s more, the new product (T-type, 7.4W) can be used for apparatuses that require a D- or T-type fluorescent light bulb (except for apparatuses using heat insulating materials). As a result, the new product is targeted at bracket lamps, pendant lamps, downlights having laterally-facing bases and other lamps that utilize light from an entire lamp.

Additionally, the new lamp can be used for apparatuses that enclose a lamp like those seen in a bathroom. But it cannot be used for apparatuses capable of changing light intensity or circuits.
