Luminus introduces two new white PhlatLight LEDs

Luminus Devices, Inc. has introduced its new white PhlatLight® LEDs - the SST-90 and the SST-90. The SST-90 white PhlatLight® LED, produced in a surface-mount package, delivers 100 lm/W at 6500 K and up to 2.25 kilolumens in total. Launched in parallel, the CST-90 features standard mounting, also delivers 100 lm/W efficacy, and reaches a maximum output of 2.75 kilolumens. Two new PhlatLight LEDs are expected to enter volume production in the second quarter of the year.

Luminus says the SST-90 combines the benefits of high power and efficiency, enabling lighting fixture OEMs to replace bulbs and LED arrays with a single PhlatLight LED. For LED customers, this results in simplified designs, lower costs and faster time-to-market.

Dave Sciabica, head of the Lighting Business Group at Luminus Devices notes that the SST-90 is a surface mount package in a form factor that OEMs are familiar with and use regularly. With the introduction of the SST-90, they continue to enable new applications that benefit from a highly efficient, high-brightness single light source.

The light emitting surface of the SST-90 is a single, monolithic die that is nine square millimeters in size. The SST-90 produces 1,000 lumens with 10 watts input (at 6,500K) and 2,250 lumens at its maximum rated drive current. PhlatLight LEDs are mercury-free and highly reliable and have a lifetime of 60,000 hours with lumen maintenance of greater than 70 percent. The SST-90 is ideally suited for general lighting applications, including architectural, retail and residential lighting as well as wide area street and parking lot lighting.

Luminus says the CST-90 white PhlatLight LED enables lighting fixture OEMs to replace bulbs and LED arrays with a single large, LED, resulting in simplified designs, lower costs and faster time-to-market. The PhlatLight CST-90 comes in a connectorized chip-on-board package with standard mounting features that make it easy to integrate and is simple to service and upgrade even after the fixture has been installed.

Sciabica notes the CST-90 white PhlatLight LED offers excellent system flexibility, reliability and efficiency. With the introduction of the CST-90, Luminus is redefining solid-state lighting system design conventions by offering fixture designers a single light source alternative to common LED arrays.

The light emitting surface of the CST-90 is a single, monolithic die that is nine square millimeters in size and integrates seamlessly with industry standard optics. The CST-90 produces 1,000 lumens with 10 watts input (at 6,500K) and 2,750 lumens at its maximum rated drive current. PhlatLight LEDs are mercury-free and highly reliable and have a lifetime of 60,000 hours with lumen maintenance of greater than 70 percent. The CST-90 is ideally suited for general lighting applications, including architectural, retail and residential lighting as well as wide area street and parking lot lighting.
