A new LED lighting system targeted for commercial facilities has recently been developed by Daiwa House Industry Co. Ltd. in collaboration with Nabesho Co. Ltd. and Kyocera Corp.

The new lighting system called "Grace Lumino" has been introduced for applications in convenience stores and hotels with its power monitoring system developed by Daiwa House Industry and color rendering, light distribution as well as the optical design adopted from Nabesho.

According to Act on the Rational Use of Energy (Energy Saving Act) in Japan, the power consumption of industrial plants and other places are required to be monitored and reported. And the ECO Monitoring System has been featured in Grace Lumino to meet the demand. This system is especially suitable to be used in the franchise business, for the power consumption of lighting equipments in each chain store can be managed at the headquarters in a centralized manner and the energy consumption can be largely reduced as a result.

With a luminance sensor, the LED lights can be automatically controlled by the system according to different weather, time of day and region. For example, during the daytime, the system will lower the LED light output to cut the power consumption. If adopting the system in a 200㎡ convenience store instead of using fluorescent lamps, the power consumption can be reduced by as much as 53%, said Daiwa House Industry.

With the ceramic packaging technology from Kyocera, the Grace Lumino has got a life-span of around 100,000 hours compared to 40,000 hours for general LED lamps. And the color rendering of the system is also much improved with the adoption of a unique light emission method from Nabesho.

This new LED lighting system is planned to be sold from April 1 with a price around ¥2,500,000 (approx US$25,541) including the installation cost.
