LiDAR Companies Continues World Expansion: Ibeo to the U.S. and Ouster to Europe and Asia-Pacific Regions

Following the global autonomous driving technology development, LiDAR companies worldwide are speeding up their business expansion in different part of the world. Germany-based LiDAR sensor maker Ibeo announced the establishment of its U.S. subsidiary and Ouster reported its expansion into Europe and Asia-Pacific regions.

In June 2019, Ibeo Automotive Systems has established a wholly owned subsidiary in Detroit, USA. This step allows Ibeo to cater to the growing demand for LiDAR technology in the U.S. and expand its business segment into one of the most important markets for autonomous driving.

Ibeo has begun volume production for an automotive OEM in Europe and sees the U.S. one of the most important markets for autonomous driving. The comany chose Detroit, the headquarter of the American automotive industry, for its U.S. subsidiary. Mario Brumm, associate and director global operations of Ibeo Automotive Systems, commented, "We chose Detroit for its headquarters as it is the home of the American automotive industry, and also a good midpoint between Hamburg and Silicon Valley where there is a strong mobility movement."

While the European LiDAR company made its way across the Atlantic Ocean, U.S.-based Ouster is moving towards Europe and Asia-Pacific regions. The LiDAR sensor supplier from San Francisco opened new offices in Paris, Shanghai and Hong Kong for strengthening its global sales.
