GE Returns to Taiwan Market with LED Omni A19

With increased demand for LED lighting this year, large global lighting manufacturers have been strategizing their next move in the LED lighting market. The Taiwan LED bulb market has emerged as a strategically important area. Following the release of color tunable LED bulbs by Liteon subsidiary Leotek, U.S. manufacturer GE announced on November 19th that the GE LED Omni A19 will return to the Taiwan market next month. The new generation LED Omni A19 not only has increased brightness, but also more competitively priced.

GE always had a stable market share in Taiwan’s, whether in the commercial lighting market or by interior designers, said Zhuang Kaiming, GE general manager of Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore.

Developed in 2011, the LED Omni A19 was originally introduced to the Taiwanese market, but the product receded from the market within one year, due to limitations from the immature LED bulb market two years ago, lackluster luminous efficacy, and high prices. However this time around, LED Omni A19 returns to the Taiwanese market with increased luminosity and competitive low price.

With its grand return to the Taiwanese market, the trademark GE LED Omni A19 exterior design remained intact. The size of the heat sink however has been enlarged to efficiently solve heat dissipation issues for the LED bulb. Both the size and light shape are similar to traditional incandescent bulbs.

The new generation LED Omni A19 comes in 9W and 12W with the option of either white light (5000K) or warm light (3000K). Luminous flux can reach as high as 1,000 lm, double that of previous generation of 500W bulbs. The new 1,000 lm LED Omni A19 is equipped with 10 LED package components. The bulb’s chips are supplied by Japanese manufacturers, while the product is assembled by Taiwanese manufacturers.
