Due to the Typhoon Moraco, also the lighting equipments of several schools in the east and south of Taiwan were destroyed.  As a result of the severe Typhoon Moraco in August 2009, several schools in the east and south of Taiwan had huge damages and losses.

Robert Yeh, the President of Everlight Electronics Co., Ltd. has mentioned, “Typhoon Moraco brought the most tragic disaster to Taiwan over the past 5 decades and as a leading LED packaging leader in Taiwan, Everlight carries out corporate social responsibility policy by  taking the initiative to help Moraco victims to reconstruct their homeland.”

In addition to the reconstruction, Robert Yeh also focuses on the future leaders’ education by making the donation of LED lighting fixtures to the schools.  The installation of the new lighting fixtures will contribute to a learning friendly environment for the students. Moreover, with Everlight LED lighting fixtures, the students will also learn more about the advantages of the LED technology such as the energy saving aspect. With low wattage, high light intensity, and extremely long life time, LEDs are considered preeminent as an energy efficient, minimal-maintenance source. LED lighting fixtures offer the advantages of no glare and flicker-less illuminant, which provides high performance and visual comfort to a successful work environment.

After the donation of valued ten million NTD lighting fixtures and street lights were given to Zhong-Chen campus, the discarded military campus, to be reconstructed as a victims’ shelter in Ping-Tong County. Robert Yeh also hopes that students in the disaster area will enjoy better learning environment due to the installation of LED lighting fixtures.

In cooperation with the Education Bureau in Taiwan, Everlight keeps donating overall more than 15,000, valued 60 million NTD, sets of LED lighting fixtures. The sponsorship includes solutions from the office lighting series for internal lighting of black boards, offices, hall ways and classrooms and external solution such as the SL Lighting Series for the installation in parks and outdoor areas of public schools in Pintung, Chiayi, Kaohsiung, Nantou and Taitung County in Taiwan.

This flood disaster again raised the issue of environmental protection which was not to be paid much attention in the past; with the donations Everlight contributes to its social responsibility and also supports the education of the “green” idea to preserve our nature now and in the future.
