According to institutional investors, Taiwan-based Epistar Corp. and Unity Opto Technology Co. are both expected to post increased sales for July from June, the Taiwan Economic News reports.
Epistar has recently received large amount of orders for ultra-high brightness red LED chips, according to the article, under the growing demand for these chips for wide range of applications. The world’s largest AlGaInP LED chipmaker has recently expanded its monthly output of ultra-high brightness LEDs to 300 million units from 120 million units to meet the exploding demand. The firm expects its revenue for July to further increase from NT$1.147 billion (US$34.757 million) in June and hit a single-month high.
At the same time, Unity Opto, benefiting from strong demand of LED backlights for notebook PC and LCD (liquid crystal display) TV, has estimated its July revenue at about NT$380 million (US$11.51 million), or to hit a new high of NT$400 million (US$12.12 million), from NT$340 million (US$10.3 million) in June.
