These two expos included important businesses such as Nan Ya Photonics Incorporation, Epistar Corporation, Delta Electronics, LiteOn Technology Corporation, VeeTech Optech Inc., Evest Corporation, Harbin Aurora Optoelectronics (AURORA), and NAURA Technology Group Co., Ltd (NAURA). There were totally 150 manufacturers and over 500 booths. These two joint expos are the largest professional lighting and LED technology application exhibitions in Taiwan.

Taiwan's Vice President Chen Chien-Jen was invited to the opening ceremony. Mr. Chen emphasized, Taiwan government is actively engaged in negotiation in Environmental Goods Agreement (EGA) of World Trade Organization (WTO), and working hard to persuade other 17 member nations to allow LED lighting on the list of tariffs elimination. Chen hopes the negotiation will get done by the end of 2017, so that Taiwan's LED lighting product exporting term will become more competitive.

Vice Minister of MEA, Ms. Mei-Hua Wang expressed, Bureau of Energy (a unit of MEA) carries out the Sunset Program for mercury street lights, with a total subsidiary reached NT $5.3 billion. It will facilitate 13 counties or cities throughout Taiwan to replace their 680 thousands of mercury street lights with LED light bulbs. The entire project is scheduled to finish by September 2017.

This year marks the fourth year that LED Taiwan and Taiwan International Lighting Show hold a joint exhibition together. This joint show presented crucial LED technologies, set infrared (IR) and ultraviolet (UV) zones for the first time, and held forums to analyze LED's developmental potentials in the non-visible light segments.

During the expo, there were more than 1,000 international buyers from the major markets and new southbound countries visiting and procuring.

Taiwan's lighting equipment exported up to US $430 million in 2016, down 5% from a year ago, according to statistics. The main reason was because product's quotation price dropped. Nevertheless, as LED lighting's price reaches a sweet spot and replacement demand continues expanding, the exporting outlook for Taiwanese lighting industry will still be positive.
