Chinese Trade Associations and Philips discuss China’s LED transformation at Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition

At the Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition, Philips has discussed China’s LED transformation in the lighting industry with China Association of Lighting Industry (CALI) and China Solid State Lighting Alliance (CSSLA). During this panel discussion, China’s leading industry leaders will also discuss opportunities how the government, trade associations and companies can collaborate in driving this transformation.

Ms. Guan Baiyu, Secretary-General of CSSLA says, “The LED lighting industry is to enter a new wave of growth. Government, lighting companies and industry associations need to think outside the box, support and collaborate with each other to ensure that the whole LED industry grows in a sustainable and efficient way.”

“Our extensive industrial and commercial footprint built in the past 80 years in China, contributed to our current leading position in the lighting market”, says Tommy Leong, President of Philips Lighting Greater China. “China’s strong growth in adapting LED lighting demands innovative and sustainable LED solutions. Philips’ LED expertise combined with our leadership across the lighting value chain, enables us to offer meaningful and integrated solutions to the market. We are fully committed to driving the LED transformation by cooperating with partners of the whole industry.”

“LED innovations show unlimited potential, besides energy efficiency, they create better learning conditions, safer living environments, more productive and healthier working environment in offices, a nicer shopping experience, and much more”, says Marc de Jong, CEO Philips Professional Lighting Solutions. “These insights combined with the forecasted Asian market growth of LED lighting around 70 to 80 percent annually, and China’s higher speed of LED adoption compared to other parts of the world, emphasizes the importance of collaborations between the public and private sector in the lighting industry to fully exploit the opportunities that Lighting is offering to society.”
