SANANBIO and Hode Agtech Partner to Set up Vertical Farms in Qatar

SANANBIO, the joint venture of Sanan Optoelectronics and Chinese Academy of Science, announced that it will work on an indoor farming project in Qatar with its strategy partner Hode Agtech, an agri-tech company based in Guangdong, China.

The two Chinese companies signed an agreement to develop vertical farming in Qatar to push agriculture transformation and restructure local agriculture supply chain.

Located in desert, Qatar is highly depending on food import especially for fresh vegetables. 90% of the vegetable consumed in Qatar comes from other places. The indoor farming project aims to establish an ecosystem of food production in the country and enhance food security.

Last month, Abu Dhabi also announced its plan to invest US$ 100 million to initiate vertical farm projects. It is noticeable that more and more countries and areas are trying to secure their food supply by setting up innovative farming projects.

SANABIO is proactively expanding global partnership for promoting its technology solutions for indoor farming. The company also collaborated with Crop One, a U.S.-based vertical farm company last year, to supply its LED lighting solutions and modular growing systems for establishing future indoor farm project.
