The Philippines Updates Lighting and Other Electronic Device Regulations

The Philippines has recently updated its lamp holders and other luminaire standards, according to a DEKRA press release.

Philippines published DAO 15-01 in July, to supplement the main regulation DAO 05: 2008. 


Here are the main changes for electrical & electronic products:

The test reports of the following products shall have one-year validity from the date of issuance:

  • Blender

  • CD/VCD/DVD Player CD/VCD/DVD

  • Circuit Breaker

  • Coffee Maker

  • Electric Cables/Wires

  • Electric Fan

  • Electric Flat Iron

  • Electric Stove

  • Fuse and Fuse Holder

  • Glow Starter

  • Magnetic/Electronic Ballast

  • Oven Toaster

  • Plug, Socket Outlet and Extension Cord

  • Rice Cooker

  • Switch

  • Starters/Lamp holders

  • Washing Machine

For applications with no valid test reports, inspection and testing will be required locally.

  • The Performance and Labeling Standards of the following products are deleted:

  • Self-ballasted Lamps

  • Single-capped Fluorescent Lamps

  • Double-capped Fluorescent Lamps

  • Magnetic and Electronic Ballasts

However, the mentioned products still need to meet the label requirements, as indicated in Annex 1 of DAO 15-01:

  1. Trade name / Brand name

  2. Trademark

  3. Model or type

  4. Name and address of importer or manufacturer

  5. Country of manufacture

  6. Direction for use, where applicable
